A New Beginning

Sorry its been awhile since I last posted.  Its been a busy and hecktic couple of weeks.

I was released as a missionary for the Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints, July 27th.

Since then I have been working for my dad at The Lee Theater In Ephrata.  And I've also gone to a family reunion in Southern Idaho.

It's been a little strange and all but the adjustment from being a Full-Time Missionary to another member of the Church hasnt been all to bad.  Staying busy and doing things to fill my time so I don't feel like I'm not doing anything has been a help.  And my Father has been a help in this process too.

One thing that I Don't get to do every day is to share my testimony of the Restored Gospel with those I meet.  But I'm able to live my life in accordance to the Gospel Standards and be the person God wants me to be.

There isn't a thing in this world that could change my mind about the experiances that I had while I was on my mission.  I loved the people in Tennessee and Kentucky.  They are great people and they all have a special place in my heart and i still love them and will always love them.

To those who have read this blog and still look at it, Find the missionaries from The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints, learn about the principles that they teach, Listen with a open heart and a open mind.   "aask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not btrue"- Moroni 10: 4  and listen with a open mind and a open heart and you will recieve your anwser from God, Just as millions of others have.

I Know that this is the gospel of Jesus Christ Restored on the Earth in the Last and Final Dispensation and God will not remove it again.  And these principles will change your life and how you want to live.

Questions

There have been times in my life where it's been hard to understand why I'm going through what I'm going through.   There is a movie produced The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints thats called Mountain of The Lord. One of my favorite parts in the movie is where the guy coming to interview President Woodruff askes about the stars.  I've also often wondered whats out there? Like Puma once said "they're just burning balls of gas billions of miles aways".  Or is there really order to the entire universe?

1 Corinthians 14:40 Let all things be done decently and in aorder

In many other places God shows us the order of things, He is a God of Order.  No matter how often we go astray and do the things that we dont need to be doing or do what we want to do, God was given us the was to return to him and that way never changes. Never has made a change since before the Foundation of this world

Alma 13:7 This high priesthood being after the order of his Son, which order was from the foundation of the world; or in other words, being awithout beginning of days or end of years, being prepared from beternity to all eternity, according to his cforeknowledge of all things

When we align ourselves with the path that God has set, and do the things in the proper order, God gives us the blessings that we are qualified to recieve because of our worthiness for such.

Christ is the Way and the Light and only Through Him can We return to Live with Our Eternal Heavenly Father Forever.

I Know that I am A Child Of God and He indeed knows that I'm here and all I have to do is to talk to Him and then take the time to listen.

My Dad

Well I've slacked a lot for this post, and i've been able to read some other post's about Dad's.
My Dad's the best, I don't know what I'd be like or be doing if I didnt have his guidance.  Without my Dad I wouldn't know how to do half the things that he has taught me to do.  He's taught many things about how to fix things, build things and even just tinker around.  I have always remembered my Dad working, I remember when he worked on a dairy farm, he got up at 3 in the morning to go milk cows, and I would go either with him then or at a later time to feed the calves, and then i'd ride home with him. He showed me how to mow the yard and run the weedeater. Later in life he showed me how to do a little bit of work on the car engine.  He also showed me and taught me how to build a house.  He came to most if not all my football games and most of my other activities in High School.  He always supported me in all the things that i wanted to do.  I can't write all the things that my Dad has done for me and all the things that he's done that I haven't seen him do for me.  He's the Best and will always be one for me to turn too.

The Restored Gospel

This is why I do what I do as a missionary.

http://mormon.org/faith/

It's interesting that I would devote two years of my life at the age of 19-21 to go out and do things for my church and for the things that I believe in. I've always wanted to go on a mission, but it was still a tough choice to make.  Two years out of my life, right out of high school, leaving home. Why?

Because I Wanted To!

All because once a boy decided to pray and ask God a question.

The Peace and Joy that the Fullness of the Gospel brings through Christ's Restored Church is amazing and not only has blessed my life and the life of my family, it has blessed the lives of many thousands of people now and since the Church was Restored again on the Earth with a Prophet of God leading it.

Truth or Not

So as a missionary i ask a lot of people to ask God about the truth of the message we share with them.  Moroni in the Book of Mormon says
Moroni 10:3-5
3 Behold, I would exhort you that when ye shall read these things, if it be wisdom in God that ye should read them, that ye would remember how amerciful the Lord hath been unto the children of men, from the creation of Adam even down until the time that ye shall receive these things, and bponder it in your chearts.
4 And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would aask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not btrue; and if ye shall ask with a csincere heart, with dreal intent, having efaith in Christ, he will fmanifest the gtruth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost.
5 And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may aknow the btruth of all things.

And in the Bible James directs us
James 1:5-6
5aIf any of you lack bwisdom, let him ask of God, that cgiveth to all men liberally, and dupbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
6But let him aask in bfaith, nothing cwavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.

How can we know if something is of God or not that's easy,

1. Does it conicide with what God has taught in the past.
2. Does it lead one to doing good.
3. Ask God (He knows all the anwsers)

There are many other ways to know but it wall comes to asking God The Eternal Father.  And as Moroni and James tell us we will get our anwser.

No matter the question no matter the situation If we ask God and go with the intent of following what he tells us then he will give us our anwser.

Remembering

It's interesting the things that we can often think of when we hear something.  The memory bells that are triggered.   The other day I heard a song being played in a car and it reminded me of a time at a dance. I had completely forgotten about that night.  Then there are things that are said to us that seem to ring a bell and it takes forever to remember what it was. It's crazy the things that the mind remembers.

Hebrews 10: 32  But call to remembrance the former days, in which, after ye were illuminated, ye endured a great afight of afflictions;

Every experience that we have and go through we'll remember what it was and how wee handled it. Lets remember the "great flight of afflictions" and learn something from it and remember the mistakes we made and not do it again.

In one of my favorite shows The Highlander the main Character Duncan Macleod says "Those who forget the past are condemned to re-live it".

So lets remember what we've done and not make the same mistakes so that if we or someone we know goes through that trial, we can try something different and come out with another result.

Families

3 Nephi 18: 21aPray in your families unto the Father, always in my name, that your wives and your children may be blessed.

With it being Mothers day two days ago and thinking  about my own family i thought that i might write a little something about families.  In my brother's blog he mentioned a little about how much our families are important in the church.

Mosiah 2: 5-6
5And it came to pass that when they came up to the temple, they pitched their tents round about, every man according to his afamily, consisting of his wife, and his sons, and his daughters, and their sons, and their daughters, from the eldest down to the youngest, every family being separate one from another.
 6And they pitched their tents round about the temple, every man having his atent with the door thereof towards the temple, that thereby they might remain in their tents and hear the words which king Benjamin should speak unto them;

I love my family a ton. All the things that we've gone through have been tough, but its been worth it.  It's made us come closer together and able to work better together.  Granted I've been away for almost two years and haven't been able to physically see the changes happen but I've been able to hear in emails and the occasions that I call home the difference in the atmosphere at home.

I don't know where I'd be if it weren't for my dad, mom and the brothers and sisters that I got.  The support that I've recieved from them and the strength is overwhelming sometimes. It's comforting to me that I'll be with them for all eternity, an d be able to see them again after our time here is over.  I know that I'll be sealed to my future family for all eternity and that they can be with me someday.  I look forward to the time when I can look and my Dad and say "Well now I know what you felt like". I think he'll laugh the day I do that.  It's going to be awesome to see my sister get married and to see the rest of the family and the changes that have happened and I'm excited to be able to make more memories with them.

GPS, MAP, DIRECTIONS

In today's world we have many different ways to get ourselves around.  The Map, a tool that's been used for a very long time.  Showing us the different roads and multiple ways we can get to our destination.  Plain old directions that are written down, turn by turn.  Then the handy GPS modern tech, not only does it give you a way to get to your destination it gives you different options to get there, and gives you turn by turn guidance.  It even recalculates when you miss a turn so that you can still get to where you need to go.

Where is it that we all want to go eventually, Home.  Back to live with our Heavenly Father.  How do we get there. The destination is set we have our map, we have our turn by turn directions, and we have our GPS.  The Scriptures, words of prophets past that give us light and direction, The Holy Ghost, the personage that will tell us what way we need to turn, The Prophet who is the mouthpiece of God to give us direction, and our own Personal Revelation that we can get from God.  We have all the ingredients to get back Home. It's up to us  how we'll follow these guides.

Life

Well today was transfer day and that means that i have a new missionary companion.  He's a cool kid.

Anyway today was a good day, i got to see a member from one of my old area's. I got to see old comps and say hello and talk a little bit about old memories.  its funny all the memories that come around when your with friends and your talking about the time you we're around each other.  I've had lots of good times being on my mission. I've met lots of good people while I've been in the south.  it's funny how you can have love for people that you hardly know very well, but yet you care about them and want them to be happy.

Ether 12:34 And now I know that this love which thou hast had for the children of men is charity; wherefore, except men shall have charity they cannot inherit that place which thou hast prepared in the mansions of thy Father.

John 15:13 Greater alove hath no man than this, that a man lay down his blife for his cfriends.

Christ the most perfect example that we have. When we love others enough that we want whats best for them and actually do something about it then that's when we show Charity the pure love of Christ.

Moroni 7: 47But acharity is the pure blove of Christ, and it endureth cforever; and whoso is found possessed of it at the last day, it shall be well with him.

May we always remember how we're acting and how the Lord would like us to be toward our fellow men. we might not be perfect at it right away but we will achieve as we work at it.

Storms

So the other day we were out walking and the forcast was thunderstorms and tornado's. Well lately right around us we've decided that tornado's are about as climatic as a tortoise taking a nap.  So we're out and all of a sudden the tornado sirens go off.  Here we are about a mile from home on foot and Tornado sirens are sounding off in our ears. I turn to my missionary companion and say "Well if we die from this Tornado it's been good knowing ya, and its been fun."  So we keep walking, we were looking for an address, and it's sprinkling.  For the next 30 minutes the sirens go on and off, then out of the blue it starts to dump. The rain was coming down hard, we started walking uphill and it felt like we were wading through a river up to our knees. Then 5 minutes later it stopped raining and started misting like it always does, then a few minutes later it stops all together.  We we're soaked, the only thing that wasn't wet on me was my torso.  We couldnt find the address and it was getting close to the time we were to meet someone so we walked back home and changed into something dry.

Moral of the story....... i got nothing.

Just Kidding, going back to one of my past posts, when in our lives we have storms and trials. keep pushing forward and looking forward and soon you'll be in the peace and calm, and you'll be able to push through the next storm and trial in your life.

Luke 1: 37 For with God nothing shall be aimpossible.

storms and crazy weather

Alma 26: 6 Yea, they shall not be beaten down by the storm at the last day; yea, neither shall they be harrowed up by the whirlwinds; but when the storm cometh they shall be gathered together in their place, that the storm cannot penetrate to them; yea, neither shall they be driven with fierce winds whithersoever the enemy listeth to carry them.

So last night and today we're expected to have some pretty mighty storms that are going to do damage.  This weather kinda reminds me of last year when we had that crazy weather that made the Cumberland River flood. it was crazy. But to go on the spiritual sense of crazy weather.  Going back to the verse above.

When we're built upon the Rock of Christ no matter the storm we can weather it.

Helaman 5: 12 And now, my sons, remember, remember that it is upon the arock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your bfoundation; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, yea, when all his hail and his mighty cstorm shall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you to drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless wo, because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall.

Believe in Christ and trust in God and all things are possible.

Matthew 19: 26 aBut Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are bpossible.

some thoughts

I've been thinking a lot lately about beginning and ends. it's interesting the difference in thought that I've developed as time has gone on. the beginning and the end, its funny how we put a limit to things to make them seem like they are under our control.

Alma 34: 32 For behold, this alife is the time for men to bprepare to meet God; yea, behold the day of cthis life is the day for men to perform their dlabors.

We are eternal, we came here to get a body and perform our labors to prepare to meet God.

Alma 12: 24 And we see that adeath comes upon mankind, yea, the death which has been spoken of by Amulek, which is the temporal death; nevertheless there was a space granted unto bman in which he might repent; therefore this life became a cprobationary state; a time to dprepare to meet God; a time to prepare for that endless state which has been spoken of by us, which is after the resurrection of the dead.

Sometimes we can't see what's ahead of us. But we just need to push on and remember that we were created to be happy.

2 Nephi 2: 25 aAdam bfell that men might be; and men care, that they might have djoy.

Look Forward with Faith and have hope.  Look to God and he will help.

Times and Stories

The times are changing and the last days are here.  It's funny the stories people tell and the way they are told.  I was old before i came on a mission that i would see a lot of things and hear a lot of things. Well those two statements are very true.  One big thing that i saw was the flooding that took place in Nashville last spring. It's amazing what rain, tons of rain for three days can do. It was also way cool to see the people in the Greater Nashville area band together to fix things and get them back to normal.

People tell me all sorts of stories some really funny ones and some serious ones too.  Being in the Bible Belt well the belt buckle of the Bible Belt is quite the adventure. there are a lot of people that know their Bible, and some that say they do and really dont.  But I do admire those people out there that do the best they can to follow the commandments that God has given us and to help others out.  I've had the opertunity to go to many different churches and be able to see how they worship and the things that they believe. If there is one thing that i can say from all my adventures is, We All believe in Christ and He is Our Savior, we may have different views but on that one thing We are the same.

Life

Alma 34: 32 For behold, this alife is the time for men to bprepare to meet God; yea, behold the day of cthis life is the day for men to perform their dlabors.
There is alot behind the verse.  Sometimes I've wondered about the magnitude of it.  What exactly do we have to do. Here is a couple scriptures bout the things that we need to do in order for us to prepare to meet God.

John 14:15 If ye alove me, bkeep my ccommandments.

Alma 32: 21 And now as I said concerning faith—afaith is not to have a perfect knowledge of things; therefore if ye have faith ye bhope for things which are cnot seen, which are true.

3 Nephi 27: 19 And ano unclean thing can enter into his kingdom; therefore nothing entereth into his brest save it be those who have cwashed their garments in my blood, because of their faith, and the repentance of all their sins, and their faithfulness unto the end.

3 Nephi 27:20Now this is the commandment: aRepent, all ye ends of the earth, and come unto me and be bbaptized in my name, that ye may be csanctified by the reception of the Holy Ghost, that ye may stand dspotless before me at the last day.

2 Nephi 31: 5-7
5 And now, if the Lamb of God, he being aholy, should have need to be bbaptized by water, to fulfil all righteousness, O then, how much more need have we, being unholy, to be cbaptized, yea, even by water!
6 And now, I would ask of you, my beloved brethren, wherein the Lamb of God did fulfil all righteousness in being baptized by water?
7 Know ye not that he was holy? But notwithstanding he being holy, he showeth unto the children of men that, according to the flesh he humbleth himself before the Father, and witnesseth unto the Father that he would be aobedient unto him in keeping his commandments.

2 Nephi 32: 5For behold, again I say unto you that if ye will enter in by the way, and receive the Holy Ghost, it will ashow unto you all things what ye should do.

Matthew 24:13 But he that shall aendure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

Have Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, Repent, Be Baptized in the name of Christ, Receive the Gift of The Holy Ghost, and Endure to the End, by keeping God's Commandments and doing everything that you can to be clean before him in that last day.

Story Time

So for the last couple weeks we've had some pretty amazing storms run through Nashville.  Had quite a few, tornado warnings/watched but it wasn't as bad as it was supposed to be.  The rain has been absolutely awesome.

D&C 76: 119
And to God and the Lamb be glory, and honor, and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

Remember to give thanks to God always, and forever.

Serving

3 Nephi 13:24 No man can aserve btwo masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will hold to the one and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and Mammon.

So I was reading this the other day, and the reason I did because i was doing a study on humility.  It's interesting to me that this is the way it is.  if we're serving God then we're not serving our own interest's they're put off to the side, but if we are only looking out for ourselves, then we're not serving the purpose God wants us to fufill.

So this is what i came up with

When one is humble.

1.      (Alma 32: 1-16) Seek repentance always
2.      (Ether 12:27) Ask God what we have need to do
3.      (D&C 12:8) Have Faith and Hope
4.      (D&C 67:10) Shall see Christ
5.      (D&C 112:10) Will be led by God by the hand and he’ll answer prayers
6.      (D&C 136:32-33) Your eyes will be opened to spiritual things
7.      (Matt 23:12) Shall be Exhalted

When one is humble you are always on your knees asking for forgiveness and strength to overcome those weaknesses you have.  Your also willing to do as God has commanded.  You have the faith and hope that your prayers will be answered.  Heavenly Father will lead you by the hand.  Your eyes will be opened to spiritual knowledge and it will flow like a coursing river.  You shall see Christ and be exhalted.

These 7 things don’t come overnight. Because 1st you need the desire to Serve Heavenly Father. 2nd you need diligence, and 3rd you need patience.

Diligence is a steady, consistant, earnest and energetic effort(PMG 121;Diligence).  Its also Persistantly and a great effort and care on your part(PMG 121;Diligence). But being Diligent isnt easy so one needs to be Patient.  “You must be patient with all people. Yourself included, as you work to overcome faults and weaknesses” (PMG 120; Patience).  Without Patience one cannot be Diligent, and you have to remain Diligent to achieve the 7 blessing of humility.

To become humle one must
1.      Seek repentance and forgiveness (Enos 1:1-8)(Alma 36:5-21)
2.      Put their trust in God(Alma 36:3)(Matt 11:28-30)
3.      Truly have Faith that they have been forgiven of their sins and that God will help
4.      Study. Pray, be willing  to learn more(3N 14:7-8)
5.      Stand Steadfast in Faith(Christ)
6.      Have the desire to help declare Salvation to every creature, that they may have joy(Mosiah 28:3)
7.      Continuely be Patient & Diligent  in the Lord’s work

So remember to thank God for everything he does for us, and remember to put God's plan first then what we need done will follow with God's blessing.

Attributes

Moroni 7: 45
And acharity suffereth long, and is bkind, and cenvieth not, and is not puffed up, seeketh not her own, is not easily dprovoked, thinketh no evil, and rejoiceth not in iniquity but rejoiceth in the truth, beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.

The Christ-Like Attributes that we all need to work on.

So i was doing a study on these about a year ago, and one thing that i came to realize was that you cant really work on one without working on the other.  When you start on one attribute it works hand-in-hand with all the other ones. so the next time that we're looking at the christ-like attributes and start working on one know that you'll also improve on the others.

Relying on the Lord

Isaiah 2: 11-12

The lofty looks of man shall be humbled, and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, and the Lord alone shall be aexalted in that bday.

12 For the aday of the Lord of hosts shall be upon every one that is bproud and lofty, and upon every one that is lifted up; and he shall be brought clow

I read this this morning durring studies.  Everyone will know that Christ is the Lord, and the God of Abraham, Jacob and Isaac. No matter what kind of positions that you've held or hold, it wont mean much.

Ether 12: 27

And if men come unto me I will show unto them their weakness. I give unto men weakness that they may be humble; and my grace is sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me; for if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then will I make weak things become strong unto them.

Rely on the Lord and all things

Alma 26: 12

Yea, I know that I am nothing; as to my strength I am weak; therefore I will not boast of myself, but I will boast of my God, for in his strength I can do all things; yea, behold, many mighty miracles we have wrought in this land, for which we will praise his name forever.

Food for thought

Isaiah 1: 17 aLearn to do bwell; seek cjudgment, drelieve the oppressed, ejudge the fatherless, plead for the fwidow.

Well this morning as i was doing my studies i came across this verse and the part that caught my attention was the first part. Learn to do well; seek judgement. that never crossed my mind before we must seek judgement, and then this scripture came to mind

Revelation 3:9  As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.

So we must seek for this?  Well that"s what it's telling me. but its a good thing cause Hebrews 12: 7 says
If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?

so when we go through things in our life we're being shown the love that God has for us because he's giving us a chance to grow and become better than what we we're before.

my thoughts

As i have been studying this last couple weeks everything that i've read has basically told me me that all we need to do is turn to God and give him what he askes of us and everything will end up turning out. just as it says in the first part of the 10th verse in the 46th psalm Be still and know that I am God.  it's funny how everyday we sometimes forget to do that.  I've spent time occasionally just thinking about all the things that God has given me and all the things that He lets me do.
If we just do the things which we've been asked to do and sacrafice the things we need to, then God will give us the things which we need. Doctrine and Covenants 130: 20 & 21
20 There is a alaw, irrevocably decreed in bheaven before the foundations of this world, upon which all cblessings are predicated—
21 And when we obtain any ablessing from God, it is by bobedience to that law upon which it is predicated.

and this is one of the greatest covenants and blessings we can have Malachi 3: 10

10 Bring ye all the atithes into the storehouse, that there may be bmeat in mine house, and cprove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not dopen you the ewindows of heaven, and pour you out a fblessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

The First Time

Well, life as a missionary for  The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints has been one of the biggest and best blessings in my life.  The other day I was telling my Comp Elder Sorenson, that i would trade these past many months for anything in the world. I've been able to meet so many cool people. I've been able to see a lot of cool places and have experiances that i probably wouldnt have other wise. its been a complete Blast.
